He huffed and he puffed and he...

blew the fire out. Well it got my heart pounding. I made the mistake of putting a plastic traveler coffee cup in the microwave and then left the room for a moment. Came back in to a fire in the microwave. I was completely discomboluated, Carmie heard me squeal "fire!" and came running down the stairs. He opened the microwave and blew out the fire, made sure I was okay and went back upstairs to bed with his flu. I spent the next hour cleaning up the soot and making sure the microwave was still usable. Sheesh, I should know better.

Flu, Miserable Flu

There is absolutely no redeeming value in the flu. Parts of my body hurt that I can't imagine why they would hurt. Anyways, so that is where I am right now, bouncing between begging for sleep and cleaning house because I can't sleep. My head is so clogged up that simple computer tasks are brain busters and the most I have accomplished online is spending money at http://www.bookcloseouts.com/default.asp?N=0&rid=scarlos and www.ebay.com. Books and Disney Stuff...Yay.

Some of the books I ordered are to send to Iraq to Ky's best friend Jeff who will be there until September. Any of my friends and family that have any actio DVD's that they are willing to send over can get them to me and I will include them in my next package.

The Disney stuff is for me.

culinary cinsumption in sin city

There is more to do here than to count coup on Elvis impersonators; there is the neverending array of restaraunts that beckon!

We have eaten things we never even heard of before today, for instance, for breakfast we had a pastrami omelette with brown mustard as a condiment. Very diff, very good. We also had cheese blintzes with sour cream. Yummy is the best and most accurate word to describe them.

Dinner last night was Todai's, one of our favorite Japanese buffets. We took our time and Carm followed the WWJD, "what would Jesse do" precept and went for one more plate. The store was offering a few extras for Mom's day and I received a carnation, a glass of plum wine and a small box of godiva chocolate which made my day.

Dinner tonite was Wolfgang Puck's grill at the MGM. We had the flat iron steak and it was one of the most tender pieces of beef I have ever had.

Oh, and we saw two Elvi today.

working simply, simply working

first day at a paid job in two years. Illness and family needs have kept me from the workforce. I don't know how it will go for the next couple of days, but it is only to help out at my cousins shop for mother's day. It was fun and gratifying to be doing something again and i wouldn't mind doing this for the holidays for her.

Finished the day with a cousin from the other side of the family, dinner and a chance to see her pics from her trip to belgium and holland last year.

And tomorrow, my sweet sadie jane will go to work with me.

Accomplishments

They can be big or small, I really need to get back into the big ones, but I found that the 43 things web site was good for getting me to meet goals. It helped me focus on what I want to do and I actually finished several things on the list this week. Some of those items have been on my todo list for a year. Also, some of the items that I initially put on the list were deleted as I rethought what was important to me. The items I accomplished included, 1. go wireless, 2. fix computer, 3. walk or excercise everyday (ongoing), 4. lose weight (ongoing), quit talking on my cell phone while driving, and last but not least, 5. start a blog.

Regrets or Apologies, do they do any good?

Seems like everyone has regrets or things they wish they could have erased from their experiences. Mine have always dealt with family. Maybe it is because next week is my first Mother's day without Mom. What I wish is that I had been a better Mom myself. I also wish I could apologize for some of the things I did and the things I didn't do that could have made a difference.

Hubby and I went to Mom and Dad's condo today to get some furniture and as we were leaving town I felt like I could see Dad on the sand dunes. He was younger than I ever saw him except in photos and there were 2 or 3 other young men with him. I realized we were near the old ranch so it is very likely that he did walk across those sand dunes in order to get to the beach.

The furniture we got today was Mom and Dad's bedroom set that they bought in the 50's the night stands and dresser look very cool in our room. They fit surprisingly well in the space and color matches beautifully. We also picked up Dad's Grandfather Clock. It defintely looks like it belongs here.
